2. Florida beats Alabama

Remember that these are not predictions, they are only the steps needed to guarantee that the Tar Heels would make the playoff. So I am not picking Florida to win the SEC Championship game. Beating Alabama opens up a second spot in the playoff, and it would be hard for the Tar Heels to miss the playoff with two available slots.

Nor is this your normal Alabama team either. The offense has not been scary good except when Heisman candidate Derrick Henry leads the way. Florida has few weapons, but they do have a defense that could at least stop Henry and turn this into an ugly game with a low score.

This is unlikely, but hopefully this step is unnecessary.
