East Carolina Pirates: Looking at the Basketball Schedule
The East Carolina Pirates are among a large number of teams who are about to engage in college basketball. Before Jeff Lebo and his team does that, let’s take a look at some of the competition that the Pirates will be facing both in and out of the American Athletic Conference.
Nov. 13 Grambling St 8:00 PM
Nov. 16 Charlotte 7:00 PM
The Pirates welcome new Charlotte 49ers coach Mark Price to college basketball. Most years it would be an upset for the Pirates to beat the 49ers, but this season they have a chance to get them before the team has really gotten things put together.
Nov. 20 at Cal 11:00 PM
Going out west will lead East Carolina into a game against freshman Jaylen Brown who spurned the Tar Heels amongst others to go to California. California is supposed to be a top contender in the Pacific 12 this year.
Nov. 23 at San Diego State 10:00 PM
And things do not get any easier in the Golden State after that. The Aztecs just named their home court after current coach Steve Fisher. Fisher has built the Aztec program over the last few years with alumni like Kawhi Leonard. This will be a big test for the Pirates.
Nov. 26 AR-Little Rock 2:00 PM
Dec. 1 FAU 7:00 PM
Dec. 4 USC Upstate 7:00 PM

Husker Corner
Dec. 7 at Charleston TBD
The College of Charleston is in some transition after getting rid of its last head coach. The Cougars would ordinarily be a threat, but the Pirates may have gotten them at the right time.
Dec. 13 NC A&T 2:00 PM
Dec. 16 UNC-Wilmington 7:00 PM
Kevin Keats is building a roster in Wilmington with a lot of experience. This will be a tough matchup for the Pirates given the amount of seniors the Seahawks have.
Dec. 20 at JMU 2:00 PM
Dec. 22 S Carolina St 7:00 PM
Jan. 2 UCF TBD
And so the conference season begins

Larry Brown should be back on the bench for SMU. It is hard to say what the Mustangs will look like since they will not be playing for any particular post season. The Pirates should still prepare as if they will get the best SMU (a tourney team last year) can offer.
