Duke Blue Devils vs Boston College Eagles Preview
The Duke Blue Devils seized their own destiny and the outcome of the Coastal Division last week by their defeat of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. This week they continue conference by greeting the Boston College Eagles of the Atlantic Division. The Eagles are (3-1) just like Duke and ready to make their statement in the conference.

The Blue Devils do not know exactly how rain is going to play into the forecast today, but it is expected to be voluminous. The Devils were even varying the prices of tickets at Wallace Wade depending on the weather outcome.
Boston College and Wake Forest are Duke’s draw out of the Atlantic this year. While the most favorable draw, it is about the best Duke could hope for.

X – Rain, Rain, Go Away
Wishful thinking, but the weather conditions will play into the hands of Boston College more than Duke. Duke relies on a balanced attack of run and pass. Rainy weather will reduce the Duke passing game, while Coach Steve Addazio’s spread option run will rely on the pass much less. As a result the Blue Devils may have to resort to a ball control offense. Boston College’s defense has been statistically brilliant at 118 yards per game. Duke will have to get creative to pierce it.

Y – Teach Your Children Well
One nice thing about playing Boston College after Georgia Tech is that the basic idea is the same. Both teams rely on power running, they just get there in different ways. Therefore the same stout Duke defense from last week needs an encore this week. Looking at you, Jeremy Cash. Don’t sleep on the Eagles, they just beat Northern Illinois last week. This is the same Northern Illinois team that pushed Ohio State two weeks ago.
Z – One Step Ahead
Much like the Georgia Tech game, Duke needs to get out in front and challenge the Boston College offense to come back on them. After 76 points against Howard, the Eagles have not scored twenty in their last two games. We’ll see if Thomas Sirk has a big play in him somewhere to make this happen.
Prediction: 21-16 Duke
