Appalachian State Mountaineers vs Wyoming Cowboys Preview
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are back for Homecoming this weekend. They have been up and down the last two games. They took their shot at Clemson, which did not go well. Then they got back to doing things the way people have expected from the Mountaineers against Old Dominion.

This week, the Mountaineers welcome in the winless Wyoming Cowboys to the Rock. Normally teams try to schedule wins for homecoming, but Wyoming being winless is actually against their tradition of recent years. They have played the upstart well in the past, and should not be taken for granted this week either.

X – Balance is Important
The Wyoming Cowboys offense relies on a combined effort from pass and run alike. Statistically, they pass more than they run, but running back Brian Hill has run 461 yards this season at a rate of seven yards of carry. Stopping Hill will be key to disrupting the balance of Wyoming. Then good pass rush will be required to gum the works for quarterback Cameron Coffman. Coffman has been sacked ten times in four games for the Cowboys.

Y – Pound, Pound, and Pound Some More
Appalachian State has been carrying most of its production on the running side at a good 298 yards per game. The Wyoming defense has allowed around four hundred yards a game so far. The Mountaineers need to take advantage of that and do what they do best. Give the ball to Marcus Cox. Give the ball to Terrence Upshaw. Get Jalin Moore involved.
Z – Thrill the Crowd
The Mountaineers’ best strategy is to get a fast start that the Cowboys cannot hope to match. This is done through big plays. Unleashing the run will suddenly make Taylor Lamb very dangerous. A couple run fakes followed by deep shots may be just what the doctor ordered.
Prediction: 35-17 Appalachian State
