Power Rankings: Old North Banter Week 2
Last week we did the first power rankings of the year. There were no games played and no way to really balance the teams against each other. Now we have seven scores to compare the seven teams with. Carolina related squads were 6-1 on the weekend which means a certain team will be spending a few days or more in the basement of the rankings themselves.

So the games from last weekend broke down like this: four blow outs, two close wins, and a loss. So I have already hinted that I am dropping the Tar Heels down to seventh for now because they were the losing team. The Tar Heels are not the seventh best team in the state, but they need to earn a position out of the bottom.
I am also elevating Duke to the top spot this week, because they had the best win over the weekend. Blowing out Tulane is better than blowing out Troy, Howard, or Elon. I do look forward to when these teams in the state play each other so there can be a clearer reckoning.
Next week’s games offer an opportunity for Appalachian State to rock the boat in these rankings. A win over Clemson would certainly take them to the top. The Pirates of East Carolina also have a chance to make a statement against the Florida Gators.
