Xavier Legette Already Dealing With Injury Issue at OTAs
By Joe Summers
Panthers first-round WR Xavier Legette missed Carolina's OTAs (offseason team activities) on Wednesday as a precaution, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Expectations are high for Legette in his rookie season as he hopes to eventually emerge as QB Bryce Young's No. 1 target throughout the course of the year. He's been impressive early in practice, showing why the organization traded up to select him.
It's wise for the team to be careful, though you don't want to see a potential star dealing with an injury so early in his career.

Canales said that Legette "looked tight" and had a "moment in practice where he slowed down a little bit," hence the precaution.
During his final season at South Carolina, Legette caught 71 passes for 1,255 yards and seven TDs. He was one of the most athletic receivers in this draft class, serving as a perfect addition to a receiver room with precise route-runners like Adam Thielen and Diontae Johnson.
Legette is raw with sky-high potential, and he'll need these practice sessions to get off to a quick start at the NFL level. He had only one season of true exceptional production, though the Panthers obviously believe in his ability.
Injuries can linger, especially at receiver, so all are hoping this is merely a blip and not an indication of trouble to come. After a disastrous 2-15 season last year, Carolina hopes to break through and potentially compete for a playoff spot in a relatively weak NFC South division.
The Panthers have OTAs on May 31, June 3-4 and June 6 before mandatory minicamp begins on June 11.
