First-round pick Xavier Legette finally got the opportunity to catch passes from Bryce Young and the duo did not disappoint.

Carolina's potential success this year will largely depend on the effectiveness of the Young to Legette connection. Adam Thielen and Diontae Johnson will help, and Jonathon Brooks is an exciting backfield addition, but Xavier Legette could turn into a bonafide No. 1 receiver, one of the best assets in the NFL.

Xavier Legette Catches Passes From Bryce Young

The first thing that stands out is Legette's size. He's 6'1" and 220 LBs with a 4.39 40-yard dash, giving him a freakish profile who lived up to the billing with his production at South Carolina.

In 2023, Legette caught 71 passes for 1,255 yards and seven TDs, rapidly rising up draft boards in the process. He's not far from home with the Panthers, giving him the chance to be a local hero for the organization.

This is an offense that expects major improvements. Dave Canales is now in charge as coach, GM Dan Morgan committed healthy resources to the offensive line and skill-position groups, and Carolina plays in what's considered to be the NFL's worst division in the NFC South.

There is a real path to contention here in the 2024-25 season, though it largely depends on how quickly this talented rookie class can make an impact. The Panthers are currently +750 to make the playoffs at FanDuel Sportsbook. If Legette and Young get on the same page quickly, those odds could prove to be a steal.
