Jeremy Roach Makes Definitive Decision On Duke Future
By Joe Summers
Duke star guard Jeremy Roach officially announced he was simultaneously entering the transfer portal and declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft, maintaining his college eligibility but effectively ending his career as a Blue Devil.
The four-year starter will go down as one of the most beloved Duke players of this era, playing in legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski's final two years and current coach Jon Scheyer's first two. Roach was the last remaining player from Coach K's time, closing the door on one of the most legendary runs in basketball history.
He'll immediately become one of the most prized transfer targets and a likely NBA draft pick, giving him a difficult decision to make. That being said, he's already made perhaps the hardest one he'll face.

Roach joins Tyrese Proctor, Jared McCain, Mark Mitchell, and Kyle Filipowski as players who are moving on. If you're scoring at home, that means every single starter from this year's Elite Eight team will no longer play at Duke.
It's a devastating revelation for the Blue Devils, though an understandable one given Roach would be faced with a brand new roster. Jon Scheyer faces a big challenge moving forward, though he has one of the nation's strongest recruiting classes coming in, highlighted by No. 1 prospect Cooper Flagg.
While next year's team figures to be a contender again, it'll be entirely unfamiliar to Duke faithful. This is officially a new era and the pressure if on Scheyer to deliver as his predecessor did.
As for Roach, he enjoyed a spectacular senior season, averaging 14.0 points, 3.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc.
He'll go down as a Duke legend, whether he finishes his career as a Blue Devil or not.
