Former North Carolina Tar Heel standout Harrison Ingram had to wait a long time to hear his name called, but it was well worth it.

Ingram was selected with the 48th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-5 wing joined a young team with the reigning Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama and selected Stephon Castle with the fourth overall pick.

The former Stanford transfer is coming off a stellar 2023 campaign with the Tar Heels, averaging 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Ingram also shot 43 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc – both career-highs.

With more NBA teams looking for potential 3-and-D wings, Ingram could be a perfect piece for them as he can rebound and is a terrific defender. This past season with North Carolina, Ingram posted an outstanding 97.6 DRtg (defensive rating).

Ingram may not get a lot of minutes to start, especially since San Antonio has Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Julian Champagnie. But if Ingram can carry over his rebounding skills and three-point prowess from college in the summer league, it will help him make the opening night roster.
