Panthers Rob Cowboys in Hilarious Trade on Deadline Day
The Carolina Panthers are 2-7 on the season after they secured a 23-22 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Even though their 2024 season is over, this win gave them a nice spark.
It snapped their five-game losing streak and put another W in the column. While they are now preparing for a contest against the New York Giants in Germany in Week 10, the Panthers fleeced the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday morning.
Panthers News: Panthers Trade WR Jonathan Mingo to the Dallas Cowboys
According to Tom Pelissero, the Panthers are trading receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick.
The Panthers selected Mingo in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he has failed to live up to the expectations. In 24 career games, Mingo has logged 55 receptions for 539 yards with zero touchdowns.
Despite being fourth on the team in snaps this season, Mingo was fifth on the team in receiving yards (121). Landing a fourth-round pick for a player with this kind of production is a win for the Panthers organization.
The crazy part is the Panthers got a fifth-round pick for Diontae Johnson!
Meanwhile, Amari Cooper and Davante Adams were traded for third-round picks. Can't forget that the Chiefs landed DeAndre Hopkins for a fifth-rounder!
Who knows what the Cowboys are thinking, but the Panthers got terrific value for a player who didn't look the part of a quality weapon in their offense.
For a team that is still rebuilding, that fourth-round pick could be extremely valuable come April during the NFL Draft.
