The Carolina Panthers are 3-10 for the season after suffering three straight losses. Even though the Panthers are off to another season at the bottom of the NFC South, things are looking up for the franchise. Even in their most recent losses, they played competitive football and Bryce Young is looking more and more like a No. 1 overall pick.

With only four weeks left in the season, the Panthers are not too concerned about the results. Their priority will be the development of their young players, as well as evaluating the roster. With that goal in mind, there will be plenty of roster moves in the upcoming weeks.

The most recent transaction was signing defensive lineman Sam Roberts. On Tuesday, the Panthers released defensive tackle Deshawn Williams to open up a roster spot for him. However, they didn't waste any time bringing him back. Per Panthers insider Sheena Quick, Carolina signed Williams to the practice squad.

NFL News: Panthers Sign DT Deshawn Williams

Williams signed with the Panthers practice squad earlier this season for his second stint with the team. Previously, he spent the 2023 season with the team, appearing in 16 games and recording 33 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.

He spent the 2024 training camp and preseason with the Buffalo Bills before returning to Carolina. He was promoted to the active roster earlier in the season and played ten games for the Panthers.

The defensive line has been a major cause of concern for head coach Dave Canales this season. In addition to Williams, A'Shawn Robinson, LaBryan Ray, and Shy Tuttle have spent time at defensive tackle and they all left plenty to be desired.

The Panthers have the worst-ranked defense in the league. Per PFF, the Panthers rank dead last in pass rush and second-to-last in run defense.

It remains to be seen how big of a role Williams will play down the stretch, but the Panthers desperately need to make some changes in their defensive line.
