The Carolina Panthers are 3-11 entering Week 16. This team has dropped four straight games, including a 30-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week.

The Panthers have an NFC showdown against the Arizona Cardinals next on the slate, where temperatures are expected to be between 35 and 40 degrees.

Even though this team has already been eliminated from playoff contention, they are seeking to end the season on a high note. The Panthers are still making roster moves and parted ways with a running back on Friday morning.

Panthers News: Dillon Johnson Released From Practice Squad

According to Sheena Quick, the Panthers waived running back Dillon Johnson from the practice squad.

Johnson came into the league as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Tennessee Titans. They quickly waived him, and he landed with the Panthers practice squad in July. During his collegiate career with Mississippi State and Washington, Johnson had 2,393 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns.

Back on Dec. 3, he was placed on the practice squad injured list with an undisclosed ailment. A couple of weeks later he's no longer on the team.

Carolina has Chuba Hubbard, Raheem Blackshear, and Velus Jones Jr. in the backfield. The Panthers added Jones Jr. to the team back on Dec. 10 when rookie Jonathan Brooks went down for the year with a torn ACL.

Hubbard leads the way for this group, ranking seventh in the league in rushing yards (1,043) and tied for 11th in rushing touchdowns (11).

The Cardinals' defense gives up 121.4 rushing yards per game, and the Panthers will look to this ground game in the battle. With three games left on the schedule, each game is key for the development of players on the roster.

There wasn't a pathway for Johnson to get onto the team over the next couple of weeks.
