The Carolina Panthers revamped their coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball this offseason. Even though they are retaining defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero despite the team having the worst defense in the league, the Panthers overhauled the assistant staff.

One of the coaches they parted ways with was DeAngelo Hall. The former star cornerback had joined Frank Reich's staff two years ago and was retained under Dave Canales.

Immediately after leaving Carolina, Hall seems to be on the verge of landing a new opportunity.

Former Panthers Coach DeAngelo Hall Receiving NFL Interest

NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that Hall would be interviewing with the San Francisco 49ers for the defensive backs coach position. Garafolo noted that Hall is seeking a job as a primary position coach.

Hall certainly has the necessary experience as a player for the role. He was a 14-year veteran, most notably with the Falcons and the Commanders. He made three Pro Bowls during his career and established himself as one of the better cornerbacks in the league.

After his retirement, Hall spent time as a TV and radio analyst in Washington before starting his coaching career.

Despite the Panthers allowing more points than any team in the league, the defensive backs weren't the biggest problem. Carolina was the worst pass-rushing and run-defending team in the league, per Pro Football Focus but wasn't bad in coverage. Jaycee Horn continued his development, Mike Jackson had one of his best seasons as a pro, and rookie Demani Richardson showed intriguing flashes in his short stints.

Hall has a future in the NFL as a coach and it looks like he is close to landing his next opportunity.
