Bryce Young just had his best game as a Panther, leading his depleted offense to a dramatic one-point comeback 23-22 victory over the Saints. It was only his second start under center after being benched for Andy Dalton, yet head coach Dave Canales refused to commit to Young moving forward.

Carolina faces the lowly New York Giants in Germany in Week 10. That theoretically represents the perfect matchup to keep building Young's confidence, though it sounds like the organization still refuses to set up the 2023 first-overall pick for success.

Young wasn't perfect, though completed 16 of 26 pass attempts for 171 yards with one TD and one interception. Most critically, he orchestrated a go-ahead drive with his back against the wall against a Saints team that embarrassed him in Week 1.

Dave Canales Undermines Bryce Young's Comeback Win in Post-Game Comments

Dalton struggled significantly in his previous two starts. He's not demonstrably better than Young, while the latter is youthful and just energized the offense. There's no real reson to refuse sticking with Young at this point with the playoffs well out of reach.

Carolina is expected to be active ahead of the trade deadline. WR Dionate Johnson is already gone and promising players like DE Jadeveon Clowney could soon be on the way.

This isn't a team with any expectation of competing, so why damage Young's confidence? He's meant to be an eventual trade chip, and it helps when coaching staffs signal a degree of belief.

Canales failed to do that. Young had a win that could jumpstart his Panthers career. Instead of singing his praises, Canales reminded fans of his failures. This should be a day of celebration. Young beat a rival with a marquee drive, showcasing the calm, cool, and collected characteristics that made him such a highly coveted prospect.

Perhaps someone should remind his coaching staff instead of letting Canales raise questions about an exciting Week 10 matchup.
