Former Panther Swears Revenge on Carolina in Week 10 Matchup
The Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants square off on Sunday as the 2024 International Games head over to Munich, Germany.
Both teams are 2-7 and are looking to get another victory in the win column. This contest has another added storyline, as Brian Burns gets his first crack at his former team.
This offseason, Carolina sent Burns to the New York Giants in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-rounder. The Giants then turned around and gave the Florida State product a five-year, $141 million deal, including $87.5 million guaranteed, making him the second highest-paid edge rusher in the NFL.
While this may be a regular game for some members of the Panthers organization, Burns has been waiting for this game since the trade.
NFL News: Brian Burns Has Been Waiting for This Game Against Carolina
According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Burns had circled this game on his calendar since the deal.
The 26-year-old was drafted by the Panthers in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons there, notching 246 total tackles and 46 sacks, but they wanted to gain draft capital instead of paying him. Burns definitely remembers that and wants to show out against his former club.
During a presser on Friday, Burns said he's "a little extra motivated" to play Carolina, adding he knows a lot of players on the team.
This NFC showdown starts the Week 10 slate of games, as it kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
