The Carolina Panthers are 2-7 on the year and have a contest against the New York Giants in Munich, Germany on Sunday as the NFL International Games continue. They are fresh off a thrilling 23-22 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.

The quarterback under center in that victory? Bryce Young. It has been a weird season over in Carolina thus far.

After Week 2, the Panthers decided to bench Young in favor of Andy Dalton. That obviously sparked a lot of questions surrounding Young's future with the team. Multiple teams called Carolina asking about his availability but the Panthers didn't bite.

The trade deadline was on Nov. 5 and general manager Dan Morgan spoke to reporters on Wednesday and made a shocking statement about Young's availability on the trade market.

He was asked if the team thought about moving on from Young and Morgan shut down that idea.

"We never got into any discussions. I never opened that door. Didn’t want to trade Bryce, still don’t and committed to working with him and helping him grow and helping him develop."

That is the approach you would hope they had. They JUST selected Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. We all have seen that the Alabama product has struggled in his NFL career thus far, but the situation around him hasn't been good.

Also, what would have been the plan if the Panthers moved on from Young after 22 games? A 37-year-old Dalton?

That wouldn't have made anything better. As a matter of fact, it would have been worse. Keeping Young and allowing him to develop is the right choice. Young has talent but he needs time to grow as a player.

The Panthers need to uplift Young and go through the ups and downs. And it looks like they will be doing that in 2024.
