The Carolina Panthers ushered in a new era in 2023, pairing quarterback Bryce Young with head coach Frank Reich. The duo was supposed to work together to help bring the Panthers back to competitiveness in the NFC South but things didn’t go as planned when Reich was fired after he posted a 1-10 record in his first 11 games.

The failed stint led to another opportunity for Young as he worked under new head coach Dave Canales. But a member of Reich’s staff is also getting a chance as he surprisingly latched on with an NFC contender on Wednesday afternoon.

Former Panthers Passing Game Coordinator Parks Frazier Hired to Eagles Coaching Staff

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Parks Frazier is expected to be hired as the passing game coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. Frazier will replace Kevin Patullo, who will assume the role of offensive coordinator for Philadelphia after Kellen Moore left to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Frazier previously served as the Panthers' passing game coordinator in 2023, but if the 1-10 record didn’t give it away, it didn’t go well. Carolina ranked last with 2,741 passing yards and 4.2 yards per attempt in 2023 and Young was benched for Andy Dalton early in the year. The Panthers also threw for the second-fewest touchdowns (13) that year and finished with the worst record in the league at 2-15.

The good news for Frazier is that he’ll be working in a better situation in Philadelphia. The Eagles have an established, Super Bowl-winning quarterback in Jalen Hurts and a strong receiving core including Dallas Goedert, A.J. Brown and DeVona Smith. Philadelphia also has an elite offensive line compared to the Panthers’ group that allowed the third-most sacks (65) in the NFL.

While Panthers fans may wonder how Frazier got the job, there are some reasons. Frazier’s previous stop was on Reich’s staff with the Indianapolis Colts and Frazier worked with Sirianni before he took the head coaching job with the Eagles in 2021.

It should produce a better result for Frazier in his second go-around as a passing game coordinator while the Panthers try to make the most out of Young’s chance with Canales.
