No. 3: Panthers give up a 2021 draft pick to get Keelan Cole

Cam has a bunch of guys who pretty much do the same thing, except for Chris Hogan, who must be in witness protection because I haven’t seen him since he signed his contract. The Jags are going to have Marqise Lee later this season, which means Cole will be the odd man out in the crowded receiving corps.

To provide some variety to the receiving depth in Carolina, the Panthers should add Cole. Cole is capable of having incredible plays downfield and probably could’ve been better in Jacksonville his first two seasons if he didn’t have Blake Bortles throwing him the ball.

Newton’s a considerable deal better than Bortles and has no problem making a risky throw that is a jump ball and giving his receivers a chance to make a play on the ball. Cole is capable of making those kinds of plays as evident in his game against the Patriots last season.

The Panthers, much like the proposed trade for Drake we mentioned earlier, probably wouldn’t have to give up too much to get him. They could get him for a low round draft pick and probably get Cole.

Regardless of what Carolina does, they need to resolve the issues they have on offense, or it will doom them again in 2019.
