Wide Receiver

Starters: Devin Funchess, Torrey Smith

Slot Receiver: D.J. Moore

Bench: Jarius Wright, Damiere Byrd, Curtis Samuel

Earlier this week, Torrey Smith was a player that could have been considered on the bubble due to his contract and the chance Curtis Samuel could break out in his second season. However, the news on Wednesday changed that with Curtis Samuel not being cleared for practice, according to Panthers’ reporter Bill Voth.

While it does appear to be only precautionary, the team could elect to keep six wide receivers for the extra depth at the position entering the upcoming season.

This training camp will be important for Cam Newton to get all the work he can with three new wide receivers (Smith, Jarius Wright and rookie D.J. Moore). The depth chart will still have plenty to work out but overall the talent at the position has some great potential with the skill sets of the different wide receivers.
