NC State Wolfpack: Doeren To Remain In Raleigh
After rumors regarding a move to Knoxville, NC State head coach Dave Doeren restructured his contract with the university to stay as the Wolfpack’s leader.
Much can change in the span of 24 hours. The possibility that NC State football head coach Dave Doeren would leave the Wolfpack to join the Tennessee Volunteers appeared all but certain.
However, Doeren soothed Wolfpack Nation’s fears by planting his feet firmly in Raleigh. Also, contract negotiations agreed upon by Doeren and Athletic Director Deborah Yow helped too. According to WRAL, the supposed deal extends Doeren’s tenure up until 2022 and includes a $3 million annual salary. The NC State Board of Trustees will meet Friday to finalize the offer.

With the future of the Wolfpack’s head coach solidified, the NC State football program can continue building. Not only does the Pack have one more game to play, but Doeren still has the prospect of adding to its recruiting class.
Ultimately, Doeren’s supposed departure tilted the negotiations into Doeren’s favor. However, with the steady increase in success year after year, he’s built enough trust to justify the raise.
