15. Kicker – John Kasay (1995-2010)

You know the Panthers playoff runs of 1996, 2003, 2005, and 2008? The Panthers had only one kicker for all of them.

That was Kasay, often called the first Carolina Panther, and also the longest tenured. For much of his career he had a pretty strong leg too. His field goal percentage may be 2% lower than Graham Gano’s (85 to 83), we have not seen all of Gano’s kicks yet and there is a good chance his stats might tail off.

Kasay is the leading points scorer in Panthers history, a clear thousand points ahead of Steve Smith who occupies second on that list. The only mark against him is that many Panther fans believe he may have cost the team the Super Bowl by kicking the final kick out of bounds to give the New England Patriots the ball at the forty instead of wherever they would have gotten it at the end of the game.

He was also active around the community and a long shot to be the first Panther with Hall of Fame credentials.
