Charlotte Hornets: Kemba Walker Named All-Star Reserve
The Charlotte Hornets have produced their first All-Star since rebranding the team.
The Charlotte Hornets got a needed boost last night when they informed that Kemba Walker had been selected as an All-Star Reserve for the upcoming All-Star Game in New Orleans. Walker becomes the first Charlotte participant in the game since 2010. He is the first Hornets guard to represent Charlotte in the game since Baron Davis in 2002.
The only downside to this is the knowledge that Walker will not be playing his first All-Star Game in front of the hometown fans. Oh well, it is still a big achievement that he was able to get in this year. There was a deep field at guard as evidenced by the additional reserves joining Walker. Isaiah Thomas, John Wall, and Kyle Lowry also were named to the team.
The loser turned out to be Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, but if this season means anything then he will have his time in the future.

Walker made it to the big game by being the main scorer for this Hornets team. He is averaging twenty-three points a game. He has improved his three point shooting greatly and he is now shooting 41% from beyond the arc. There have been times that the Hornets seemed doomed if not for his ability to carry the team.
This marks a sort of success for the Walker: Charlotte Ranger campaign. Certainly it was more successful than the vote Kemba for Most Improved Player Award campaign last year. He might even be up for that Award again this year.

The Hornets are not done yet. They still play the New York Knicks tonight at 7:30 PM. That means the Hornets will face Carmelo Anthony just after the Knicks were revealed to be shopping him around to three contending teams. That could be good or could be bad.
