  1. Miami Hurricanes – September 17

To reach Group of Five berth level, you need to beat the big boys more than once. Somehow the Mountaineers got a home-and-home with Mark Richt and the Hurricanes. Somehow the Hurricanes come to Boone this year and offer a pretty good opportunity.

Miami is transitioning a little from the dress shirt Al Golden to the Georgia man Mark Richt. There will be a little bit of player shifting and playbook shifting. They were an 8-5 team last year, but their three ACC losses came to the best three teams in the conference.

In other words, it is hard to expect which Miami team will show up in Boone. Whoever it is was picked to finish second in the ACC Coastal division at ACC Media Days. A win over Miami will have some weight if only because the ‘U’ still has national cache despite their absence from the elite ranks for some time.
