Duke Blue Devils: Seth Curry to Mavs
Former Duke Blue Devils guard Seth Curry has landed in Dallas with the Mavericks.
You might not have been aware that Duke Blue Devils guard Seth Curry was a free agent. After all this has been the summer of big stars and role players getting paid.
Curry was a bit player for the Sacramento Kings last season and the Kings reached out to free agents Aaron Afflalo and Garrett Temple, both of who play the same position that Curry does.
The result is that Curry needed a new home. It looks like he has found it. Curry signed a two year $6 million dollar deal with the Dallas Mavericks according to reports from Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical.

Curry now will be coming off the bench for a Mavericks team that is trying to sort itself out again. The team could not attract the biggest names on the free agent market. Their efforts this off season have yielded them a re-signed Deron Williams, re-signed Dwight Powell, and Harrison Barnes.

The whole idea of the Mavericks for the last couple of years has been to provide Dirk Nowitzki one final run at the title. Now they don’t even have Chandler Parsons anymore. Parsons left for a max deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. Nowitzki has to seriously be considering retirement at this point.
Curry is enough of a wild card to help change that. He was brought in to one thing, shoot. He did shoot forty-five percent from the three point line last year in a league that is getting more and more aligned with the three point shot. If Curry can give some solid minutes off the bench then the Mavericks might be able to play with the deeper teams in the West.

However that could just be smoke and mirrors as the teams around them are making big moves. The Spurs added Pau Gasol. The Warriors added Kevin Durant. The Mavs have to be considered a long shot when it comes to contention in the West.
