Amway Coaches Poll Week 3: Devils got 32 Votes, State 13
The Week 3 Amway Coaches Poll is out and again it continues to be kinder to the Duke Blue Devils than its AP counterpart. This continuing trend has a lot to do with the respect other coaches have Coach David Cutcliffe, whereas the media at large still sees Duke as a basketball school.
Duke opponent Northwestern entered the poll at the twenty-four spot this week. The opportunity for Duke to climb into the poll exists if they keep winning and that includes beating Northwestern. Unfortunately the only other ACC Coastal team in the poll is Georgia Tech, which means that the Blue Devils may not get much help from conference opponents.

NC State also picked up some votes, but is behind Duke by the about the same amount that Duke is behind State in the AP Poll. State at least has games against Clemson and Florida State to improve its ranking.
None of the other North Carolina schools made an appearance. The state was 4-3 on the week. All four of the wins were against FCS competition, so not exactly compelling resume makers. North Carolina can try to get a little more cred next week when they face Illinois, although it did not help for South Carolina to lose to Kentucky.
The 49ers are 2-0 on the year, but there is no one team on their schedule that would send them into the rankings.
