Well where do I start with Cameron Payne? Payne is a very good point guard and may be the best point guard in this draft overall. He exhibits great basketball IQ, he is a hard worker, he is fast, he is an elite passer, and he is developing a very good jumper all the way out to the three point line.

I think this guy is going to be a steal in this draft and the reason why is very clear when you watch highlights of his college career. He is everything you would want in a point guard except for maybe lacking athleticism. Payne’s potential to be an elite point guard is there and he should be there at number 9 for the Charlotte Hornets.
I am sure by now you are probably asking yourself then what are we waiting for as soon as we pick he needs to be the pick. Problem is we just committed to Kemba Walker for the next 4 seasons and why pick a back up point guard with the number 9 pick?
I think the only way we draft Payne is if we trade Walker and I honestly do not see that happening. Would I be upset if we did trade to get Payne? No, I would not be because I know this guy has exactly what the Hornets need as far as the point guard position goes.

I like Walker and do not see him as the problem because I see the lack of perimeter talent around him as the reason why he is jacking up shots left and right. Payne has the potential to be a great defender as well because he is an ideal height for a point guard in the NBA (6 foot 2 inches) in my opinion.

Behind the Buck Pass
Payne would be taller than Walker and would be a better passer from day one than Walker as well. Honestly if we needed a point guard this would be a great player to choose but we do not need one.
I have heard the Hornets being mentioned by some media as having interest in Payne but it would only be smart to choose him if they ditch Walker for a draft pick. Either way I think Payne ends up being the best point guard in this year’s NBA draft. I have attached Payne’s Draft Express NBA Draft Scouting youtube video below. GO HORNETS!
