Al Jefferson’s MRI on his right calf showed no structural damage. The Charlotte Hornets can slightly relax as Jefferson will be coming back this season. The next test is the time period where he will be out.

Jefferson experienced a twinge and pain against the Sacramento Kings and many fans must have thought the Hornets’ season was over then and there. So much of the Hornets’ effort and scoring is based around what Al Jefferson can do. It looked like he was not going to do anything for the rest of the year.

FanSided
The morale shift in the Hornets has been noticeable right away. Without Al, the Hornets have lost two straight. This is a dangerous time to undergo a losing streak since the Hornets are fighting in the middle of a pack of teams trying to claim those final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
Al’s injury will not keep him out forever, thankfully. It just seems to be another cog in that trend where the Hornets gain something only to lose something else. This time Kemba Walker had just come back right as Jefferson went down. Unfortunately Walker is not a 6’10” power forward.

To make things more interesting, the Codysaurus is also missing in action. Zeller had been Jefferson’s partner in the low post, but he has a shoulder sprain. The Hornets will once again throw Bismack Biyombo into the fire. Giving Biyombo time to play is always an interesting experience. He had some good games in the middle of the year before he too got hurt.
The Hornets desperately need to keep pace in the playoff race while Jefferson is hurt. The margin for error is not very large for them at this point. This why the belief that Jefferson is returning is so important right now. The Hornets’ effort dissipated against the Kings when they thought he was gone.
