Rasheed Sulaimon: Kicked Out for Sexual Assault?
A little more light may have been shed on the circumstances that led to Rasheed Sulaimon becoming the first player kicked off the Duke basketball squad in the tenure of Mike Krzyzewski. According to the Duke student newspaper, The Chronicle, Sulaimon was the focus of sexual assault allegations before he was dimissed from the team.

Coach Krzyzewski was asked about this new report in a weekly teleconference and answered ‘no comment.’ In fact he answered ‘no comment’ three more times on the issue. This a measured approach to take, since it avoids Krzyzewski getting too involved. He gets to prevent attacking a former player while not intimating consent of his alleged actions.
After all, all we have now are allegations. No one has arrested or censured Sulaimon as yet, so it is still too early. The last time someone made public sexual assault allegations against Duke athletes, it turned out to be a hoax.

The Duke Lacrosse scandal is not so far away that we all need to be a little careful about this. There was irresponsibility by the Lacrosse team in that episode, but not to the point which it was taken in public opinion. Today there are still Duke Lacrosse jokes made from time to time.
Sexual assault and conspiracies about intervention are also current because of the Jameis Winston episode. Winston was accused of sexual misconduct three years ago and the police shut down the investigation early. Then it was looked at and there was an honor court treatment and more. In the end, things were right where they were in the beginning. Winston was left alone due to insufficient evidence.

Now, he is a National Champion and about to be a high pick in the draft. However people saw conspiracy to stop the case.
Coach K does not want that. So he has tried to separate himself from Sulaimon by kicking him off the team and now through these ‘no comments.’ With as much power as Coach K has at Duke, it would be easy to see his hand at work in how things happened or did not happen with Sulaimon and he is trying to stop that perception from forming.
The stakes must be pretty high if a student assistant, who reported the allegations, quit his job after doing so.
