Kevin Johnson: Attracts Attention to Wake Pro Day
Kevin Johnson was getting some eye balls yesterday at the Wake Forest Pro Day. The 6’0” 188 lbs cornerback is rated as the second cornerback in the draft in some services. Johnson has good height for the position, but the big question marks for him are his strength. Johnson did not answer the latter question as he did not participate in the bench press.

The team that was most heavily represented was the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were on hand with four members of their front office and coaching staff. General manager Kevin Colbert, defensive backs coach Carnell Lake, player personnel director Dan Rooney Jr, and pro personnel coordinator Brandon Hunt all attended the event.

The Steelers are a little old in the secondary with their starting corners being Ike Taylor and William Gay. Gay is thirty and Taylor is thirty-four. Though Taylor would argue that he is not washed up yet, it would be a good idea for the Steelers to start bringing along some younger, maybe even faster, guys.
At the Combine, Johnson showed plenty of athleticism as he ran a 4.5 forty, jumped vertically 41.5 inches, and also rated highly in the broad jump, cone drill, and twenty yard shuttle. He did nothing to harm that draft stock at pro day, and also looked great at positional drills according to a report by Rob Rang of CbsSports.com.

The Steelers may not be the only interested party as the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans also sent out their defensive back coaches to the event.
Johnson is currently estimated to be a late first or second round pick. The Eagles’ first opportunity would be at 20, with the Steelers at 22. The Vikings and Titans would likely be looking for Johnson to fall into the second round where they have early picks in that round.
