Duke Blue Devils Signing Day Report
The Duke Blue Devils do things differently on National Signing Day than their opponents down the road in Chapel Hill. While it is standard for the Tar Heels to focus their recruiting efforts within the state, Duke searches nationally to fill their ranks. There were only two North Carolina signees on Coach David Cutcliffe’s list this year.
Instead Duke’s seventeen man signing class hails from Florida (2), Georgia (7), California (3), with New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania providing one man each. Cutcliffe’s presence in Georgia probably has to do with his old SEC connections into the state. Notably no signees came from New Jersey, the stereotypical Duke origin state.

Duke is clearly looking to replace its senior leadership losses with this class. With Laken Tomlinson gone, it is only natural to see Duke bring in somebody like Reno Rosene. Rosene’s bio stats suggest he will make an impact on the Duke line.

Canes Warning
Quentin Harris is another quarterback to put into the system that cranked out Sean Renfree and Anthony Boone. You may not hear from Harris this year, but you will in the future.
The Blue Devils are also looking to improve their pass rush and the signings of Price, Mugala, and McSwain seem to bear this out. Duke seems to be committed to sticking with the 4-2-5, as the number of potential linebackers in this class seems small.
This will be a transition year of sorts for the Blue Devils. They will have to build on their past success of the last two years without the major names that made those things happen. No Jamison Crowder on the field this year for the Blue Devils.
