Josh McRoberts: The What Ifs Are Over This Year
Josh McRoberts of the Miami Heat has suffered torn meniscus in his right knee and his season will most likely be over, according to Michael Wallace of ESPN. The former Duke player injured the knee while falling against the Phoenix Suns on December 9th. His entire season has been a patchwork of injuries that have limited his effectiveness. He has only averaged four points and two point six rebounds per game. Now the season is most likely over.

Josh McRoberts: The Savior?
So now at least we can end one persistent myth that had plagued the Charlotte Hornets over the summer and in the early season. Would things have been better if the Hornets had managed to resign McRoberts? We can finally but that idea to bed. Though the Hornets have had their own issues this year, McRoberts would not have been able to fix their problems.
Sure I understand that people liked how McRoberts played last year. He offered some shooting and passing, and he was a longer defender than Marvin Williams, who sits in that spot now. However none of that matters if the guy is on the bench.

Trading Lance?
The other thing that seems to be following the Hornets around this season is the idea that the Lance Stephenson project should be scrapped in its first or second stage. Disappointment with Stephenson has been the primary factor behind the trade. Fan disappointment outpaces team disappointment at this point since the fans thought that Stephenson would be a cornerstone player – the Chevy Chase of the Three Amigos – or something like that.
The Hornets still have time to recover with or without Stephenson. It might be unlikely for the Hornets to find a deal for Stephenson that gives them the additional material they need to get to the playoffs. Right now the team’s third scorer is Gary Neal, who I thought had no room on the roster when camp started.
