AAC Championship and Bowl Picture – 11/24
The AAC Championship will not be decided the same way that it will next year. The addition of Navy will give the American twelve teams and they will have two divisions and a championship game. This year the conference winner is the team that has the best conference record. If multiple teams tie, there will be co-champions.

This means that there can be as many champions as possible when the teams play each other. So let’s look at the picture entering these last two weeks. Yes, two weeks. Since the American does not have a championship game this year, they scheduled their last games when the other Championship games would occur.
AAC Standings
Memphis (6-1)
UCF (5-1)
Cincinnati (5-1)
East Carolina (4-2)
Houston (4-2)
So what would it take for East Carolina to tie for the title? Well first they have to win out, which would also bring UCF’s record down to two losses.
Next ECU would need Memphis and Cincinnati to both lose once. With all those things happening, the Pirates would be part of a four way tie for first and would become co-champions.

The most likely result is still for Memphis to win out and probably be joined by Cincinnati. Neither are playing too difficult an opponent over the next two weeks. I imagine the Houston Cougars will pick up a lot of bandwagon folks for their last game of the season against the Bearcats. Multiple teams will need Cincinnati to lose at that point.
The AAC has six bowl tie-ins, so each of the teams above and Temple should be going bowling somewhere.
If I had to guess right now I would say-
Cincinnati to Birmingham
UCF to Bitcoin (formerly Beef O’Brady’s in St Petersburg)
East Carolina to Miami Beach
Memphis to Military
Houston to Armed Forces
Temple to Bahamas
