AP Basketball Poll: 11/18 Duke #4, UNC #6
The AP Basketball Poll is probably not as important as its football counterpart. I say that because the final college basketball championship will be decided by a playoff bracket of 68 teams. 68 is a far higher number than 25. If you are even mentioned for the poll, you are probably a tournament team if you can maintain it through the season.

The AP Basketball Poll was released yesterday, so it does not reflect Florida’s loss to Miami last night and every team in the poll was undefeated at the time that the poll came out.
For local interest, Duke sits at number four in the poll behind another vaunted Kentucky team, Arizona, and Wisconsin. North Carolina sits at number six right on top of ACC newcomer Louisville and Virginia is not far away at number nine.
NC State is hiding in the other receiving votes, and some intrepid writer ranked at number 14 in the country. The local powers like Davidson, Charlotte, and North Carolina Central are not in the poll now and likely will not appear until late in the year if they have strong non-conference seasons.
