Week 12 AP Football Poll: Duke #19
Quack. Quack. That sound you hear is the difference between this week’s Coaches Poll and the Week 12 AP Football Poll. It is the Oregon Ducks that have moved into the three spot over the Alabama Crimson Tide. The AP Poll still has the Baylor-TCU problem, where Baylor is ranked behind TCU. The Big Ten contender for the playoff is now Ohio State, not Michigan State, and we have probably heard the last of politicking from Spartans coach Mark Dantonio.

The playoff picture would seem to have simplified. The Pac 12 representative will likely be Arizona State or Oregon. The Big Ten contender will be Nebraska or Ohio State. The fourth spot seems up in the air right now. The only real road for two SEC teams is Alabama beating Mississippi State so that neither of those teams fall to two losses. The other routes would consider teams with two losses and we aren’t there yet.
The Duke Blue Devils are #19 in this poll as well. The last weeks will show how far they can rise, but again I do no think it will be enough.
Colorado State and Marshall are both in the bottom handful of this poll as well, just like they were in the Amway Coaches Poll.
