It was a blowout as the Orange Bowl bound Tigers crushed the Deacs 56-7. The Tiger offense was powered by Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins, while the Wake offense could not do much of anything against the Clemson defense.

Wake may have picked the wrong week to play the Tigers, because star freshman Deshaun Watson is due back from injury. The Tiger offense is a completely different unit when he is around. Without him, Clemson has used its superior defense to stave off opponents like Louisville, Syracuse, and Boston College. When he was healthy, the same offense put 50 on North Carolina and 41 on NC State.

Coach Dabo Swinney has been recruiting great down at Clemson and his teams always seem to be just about ready for the next step except for Florida State. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Jameis Winston era ends and Watson should be coming on at that point.

Clemson has the tenth best scoring defense in the country, and it would look even better if not for the Georgia and North Carolina games.

This is a game where Wake Forest should find itself completely outmatched on both sides of the ball. It will be a real test for Wake’s defense, since the Wake Forest offense has not yet revealed itself to be a consistent threat.
