Amway Coaches Poll Week 11: Duke Blue Devils #20
Week 10 witnessed the end of East Carolina’s bid to reach the Alliance bowls. The Pirates’ last hope would be to win the American Athletic Conference and have other non-Power 5 conference teams lose enough games to make it work. This is an unlikely event because the Marshall Thundering Herd plays no one of consequence for the rest of the season. Here comes the Week 11 Amway Coaches Poll.

The SEC West grip on the top four continues in the Coaches Poll, as Alabama rose up to replace Mississippi who was essentially eliminated by Auburn from their matchup. The threesome of Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi State will match up with each other before the end of the year (the Bulldogs have already beat Auburn) and sort some of that out.
Duke has risen to number 20 in the poll and has the chance to keep rising as its schedule gets a little easier toward the end of the year. I still don’t see Duke as a reliable playoff threat, since their division has been highly criticized.
The Pirates managed to survive in the others receiving votes section.
With the College Playoff Rankings coming out on Tuesday, these rankings shrink in significance and even the Playoff rankings mean nothing before Pearl Harbor Day about who the final four will be.
