Week 9 AP Football Poll Released: ECU #18
The Big 12’s loss is the SEC’s gain evidently. The top 5 of the AP Football Poll Top 25 had a distinctly Southeastern feel with Florida State being the only team in the top 5 not the SEC. In fact Florida State was the top team in the AP poll not from the SEC West division. This situation is probably untenable, since the SEC West teams will all play each other and two losses will probably be a disqualifying mark for the playoff.

Notre Dame seemed to survive the AP Poll vote well, dropping only to seven. TCU and Kansas State are sitting on the outside of the top ten looking in. Oregon is still hanging around, but the Stanford game will not improve their profile when it comes.
East Carolina sits at number 18 with teams who could fall sitting on top of them. Nebraska is ripe for a loss, and no one knows exactly what Arizona is at 15.
Duke has the most votes of any team not in the poll and they could jump in with enough volatility and a win against the Pitt Panthers this week. Clemson is still living in the bottom of the poll and Louisville is one of the teams receiving votes.
