FCS Football Preview: Week 7
Week 7 is upon us in the FCS Football Preview and it looks like conference games are here again. The season is either at or close to its halfway point for these teams, so now is a good time to check up on these guys.
Thursday- 10/9
North Carolina A&T Aggies (4-2) vs Hampton Pirates (1-4)
Time: 7:30 PM
TV: ESPNU
The Aggies make their second cable television appearance by taking on the Pirates at home. The Aggies will be looking for some redemption after last week’s shutout loss to South Carolina State. Somehow I do not think Hampton is going to provide much resistance.

Saturday- 10/11
Campbell Camels (2-3) vs Butler Bulldogs (3-2)
Time: 12:00 PM
The Alliteration Bowl kicks off this Saturday. Campbell is 2-0 so far in the Pioneer League season, and they are looking to keep that mark going at home. Butler is 1-1 in league play with no victories over other FCS competition.
Davidson Wildcats (1-5) at Drake Bulldogs (2-3)
Time: 2:00 PM
Speaking of Bulldogs, Davidson goes to Iowa to face Drake. Davidson is still looking for its first league and FCS win of the year. Drake beat Marist in league play, but it also did not beat any teams outside of the Pioneer League that are in the FCS. Can Drake last five overtimes?
North Carolina Central Eagles (2-3) at South Carolina State Bulldogs (4-2)
Time: 2:00 PM
Speaking of Bulldogs, it is now the Eagles’ turn to play SC State after SC State’s big win over the Aggies last weekend. You have seen how good the Bulldog defense can be, so this will be a tough MEAC matchup for North Carolina Central.
Charlotte 49ers (3-3) at The Citadel Bulldogs (1-4)
Time: 2:00 PM
Speaking of Bulldogs, The Citadel has had an underwhelming season to this point. They did rise up and beat Gardner-Webb, who beat the 49ers close last week. The 49ers have seen their season rake a dip the last three weeks as they lost three close games to different levels of competition. It will be a matter of taking care of the football, because the 49ers should not lose this one.

Western Carolina Catamounts (3-2) vs Wofford Terriers (3-2)
Time: 3:30 PM
TV: ESPN3
The Catamounts will be playing a more benign species of dog this weekend. No more Bulldogs. Western Carolina is coming off a game it should have won against Presbyterian, so they should be fired up. Jerry Richardson’s alma mater has only beaten the disappointing Citadel in FCS play so far this year.
Elon Phoenix (1-4) at Delaware Blue Hens (3-2)
Time: 3:30 PM
Elon continues its first journey through the Colonial Athletic Association by traveling to take on traditional FCS power Delaware. Elon still holds an upset over Charlotte as its only win on the year. The alma mater of Joe Flacco has played a series of close games to get to 3-2, most recently a 3 point loss to Sacred Heart. Elon should be in this game the whole way.
