Wake Forest Demon Deacons Axed by Florida State Seminoles 49-3
Florida State picked the right weekend to play Wake Forest. Top five teams fell al around the Seminoles, but they kept on trucking, gaining a 49-3 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Tomorrow when we wake up and find both Mississippi schools in the top 10, and some argument about whether this is the best or worst thing to happen to the SEC West, FSU will still likely have its nose at the #1 spot.

Wake Forest led this game early, scoring the only points of the first quarter in the form of a field goal. That was as good as it got. Wake was held to 127 yards of total offense for the entire game. Wake turned the ball over three times, once for an immediate score by the FSU defense.
In the second half, Coach Dave Clawson tried something different and played backup quarterback Tyler Cameron and made Dezmond Wortham the primary ball carrier. It did not change very much for Wake.
Play of the Game
Though the Wake offense never showed many signs of getting back into the game, the defense kept FSU’s top scorer as Robert Aguayo, the kicker. That is why the Isaiah Robinson fumble was such a back breaker in this game. FSU’s Reggie Northrup picked up the ball and ran to the end zone for a 30-3 lead that probably convinced Clawson to make his changes.
Were You There When…
Robert Aguayo kicked a field goal. As bad as the score looks, it could have been worse had Wake’s defense not turned several drives into field goals instead of touchdowns. There were five field goals and Aguayo had 20 points on the night.

Dezmond Wortham RB
As of this writing, I do not have tackle stats from the defense. Therefore I am going with the back who rushed for 5.7 yards per carry in the most thankless time to do it. Wortham is good sized at 6’1” 200 lbs from Frisco, Texas. It was nice to see effort on the field after the game had really been decided.
Final Thoughts
This was going to be ugly for Wake, it just was. The team is not yet far along enough to shock people in Tallahassee. We know the defense can hold the lid down, but we also know the offense cannot score. Syracuse and Boston College come to visit over the next two weeks and they are about as friendly as the schedule gets.
