Miami Hurricanes Wash Out Duke Blue Devils 22-10
You didn’t think that the Miami Hurricanes could summon rain? Well you probably hoped that Anthony Boone would not throw two interceptions. That perfect brand of football with no mistakes had been a Duke Blue Devils staple for 4 games. Without it, they could not muster the offense to break the speed of the Miami defense.

Miami running back Duke Johnson, who did not play against Duke last year, ran for 155 yards and a touchdown. Freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya continued his run of good play with two touchdown passes.
Play of the Game
Brad Kaaya threw a massive pass to wide receiver Joseph Yearby, who did the rest. 47 yards later, he was in the end zone and a 16-10 game became a 22-10 game that Duke would not answer in.
Were You There When…
Rain fell in buckets in the third quarter, preventing Miami tight end Clive Walford from securing a Kaaya pass. That ball became a hope for Duke, as safety Deondre Singleton had a shot at it. But the rain and the slickness denied him as well. Miami would go on to make a touchdown on that drive when receiver Herb Waters made a nice catch in the end zone.

I Want Him On My Team…
Shaun Wilson RB
Wilson ended up with over 100 total yards, 31 rushing and 74 receiving. The conditions contributed to him being the leading receiver for the game. When it’s raining, you do not want to rake too many risks with deep passes. Unfortunately Wilson was kept out of the end zone as the Miami defense found itself.
Final Thoughts
Miami and any team that can out athlete Duke is always going to be a dangerous matchup for the Blue Devils. The Devils had not been punched in the mouth all year, and now they have been. I think that Duke will likely learn from this and some of the issues (travel, weather) will likely not repeat. The rest of the Coastal Division is sort of where Duke is, if not worse off. There needs be no doom saying after this one.
