Hornets Preseason Schedule Glance

More from Charlotte Hornets

With the first two weeks of football upon us, I really had been ignoring the Hornets. Then Noah Vonleh got hurt and then he had successful surgery. Then on September 4th, the Hornets released their Hornets preseason schedule. So let’s take a minute out of our football-centric lives to look at it.

CHARLOTTE HORNETS 2014 PRESEASON SCHEDULE

Oct. 8 at Philadelphia 76ers Wells Fargo Center 7:00 p.m.
Oct. 10 vs. Washington Wizards B.S.Wellness Arena (Greenville, S.C.) 7:00 p.m.
Oct. 13 vs. Orlando Magic Time Warner Cable Arena 7:00 p.m.
Oct. 15 vs. Detroit Pistons Time Warner Cable Arena (Cool School Field Trip) 11:00 a.m.
Oct. 17 at Washington Wizards Verizon Center 7:00 p.m.
Oct. 19 at Chicago Bulls United Center 7:00 p.m.
Oct. 20 at Atlanta Hawks Philips Arena 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 23 vs. Indiana Pacers Time Warner Cable Arena 7:00 p.m.
This is how the schedule looks on Hornets.com

The first opponent is the Philadelphia 76ers. Good luck trying to guess who they will play in that game. The 76ers have spent the last two years tanking and may be looking at a third. Their front line may be Nerlens Noel and Anthony Bennett. Noel looked good in summer league and Bennett lost a lot of weight. There is also Michael Carter-Williams. This game is in Philly, despite being in the ironic Wells Fargo Center.

None of the games are against teams from the West, which I guess is a way to save money on travel.

We play the Wizards twice, once in Greenville. That means we might see angry John Wall from his national team snub. We also get Bradley Beal and Marcin Gortat. You know if we live in Greenville or Washington.

  • The Pistons are reportedly close to getting Greg Monroe to sign his restricted free agent tender. This is of course because Monroe does not have a friend of LeBron James as his agent, and therefore LeBron can’t lobby for him.

The Bulls should be a neat game, because the Bulls did almost as much retooling to their roster as the Hornets did. Both teams should be clashing for top 4 seeds over the course of the season. Will we see Derek Rose or not?

The last game to mention is the Pacers coming to Time Warner Cable Arena without Paul George. Lance Stephenson will be there, playing for us. This Lance’s first chance to show up or make up with his former teammates. Should be some neat stuff here.

Now, back to football…until the next time I need a Hornets break.
