Duke Blue Devils Sack Troy Trojans 34-17
Sometimes you need a reminder that the battle is not always to the strong or the race to the swift. The Duke Blue Devils got the message in their game with the Troy Trojans of the Sun Belt Conference. Troy was coming off a horrendous performance against UAB, and didn’t look like a team that could threaten Duke. Yet there they were in the second quarter, down 14-3, and probably starting to wonder what was going on.

Whatever it was, it did not continue. Duke scored 21 unanswered points to seize control of the game and then kept Troy out of the end zone the rest of the way. Anthony Boone showed his versatility by running and throwing for scores during the Duke rally. Boone led the team in both passing and rushing on this afternoon.
Play of the Game
Boone’s thirty yard touchdown run not only brought the Blue Devils within a score at 14-10, it was the first of a series of Duke scores that were on broken by a Troy field goal in the third quarter. Before Boone ran, there was much head scratching. Afterwards, the way was clear.

Thomas Sirk threw the two yard pass to the tight end David Reeves. A lot of things can happen near the goaline, but putting the ball into the hands of backup quarterback Sirk to throw for the lead had to have surprised Troy.
I Want Him on My Team
Anthony Boone, QB
Boone had a do it all mentality in this game that was greater than the 268 passing and 47 rushing yards that he accumulated. Boone changed the game and responsible for the first Duke touchdown and the last on his legs. You remember his legs, right? Or do you still pine for Brandon Connette? Fresno is 0-2 by the way
Final Thoughts
Duke should have won this game and they did. They may have started a little stressfully, but they write another W in the book and look forward to next week, when Bill Self brings the mighty Kansas Jayhawks to Cameron Indoor. No Wiggins or Embiid, but…football? Charlie Weis? Oh.
