Appalachian State Mountaineers Devour Campbell Camels 66-0
What a difference a week makes. Last week Appalachian State got rolled by Michigan. This wekk it was the Mountaineers doing the rolling. The Campbell Camels came to Boone from Pioneer League and they left with a bit less hump on the back. The offense rolled for 544 total yards and plenty of scores in the 66-0 romp. The defense added a shut out to get some momentum back for the Mountaineers as they continue down their schedule.

Play of the Game:
The start of the second quarter saw quarterback Kameron Bryant throw a 21 yd pass to Barrett Burns that resulted in a touchdown and took the score to a three score game. At that point, Campbell was unlikely to come back and they in fact did not. Eventually the score blew up to its 66-0 final.
Were You There When…
Doug Middleton intercepted Campbell quarterback Riley Gallaher for 52 yards and a touchdown. This meant the App defense had now scored to join the party.

RB Marcus Cox
Cox came back from a tough game against Michigan to deliver a 114 rushing yard performance with two touchdowns while sharing carries with a number of runners due to the lopsided score. It was nice to see Cox back on track and averaging almost 6 yards per carry.
Final Thoughts
Campbell was supposed to be outmatched and they were. The Mountaineers showed what they are capable of when everything is working, as compared to last week. The Mountaineers have a bye week to ready themselves for Southern Miss, which is a winnable game against a team that is much closer to what they will see in the Sun Belt. Troy and Louisiana-Monroe have not looked like good teams yet either, which means App may be able to beat them down the road.
