Appalachian State Football ‘Fan Fest’ on August 16

The Fan fests are coming hard and fast and this time it is Appalachian State University who are announcing their creatively named Fan Fest for August 16, 2014 at Kidd-Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC.
So what makes this different than the previously announced NC State or ECU fan type fests? One, it involves Mountaineers and includes National Championship banners. Two, the App State folks have gone out of their way to make this event kid friendly.
How so?

More from Appalachian State Mountaineers

The Junior Mountaineers Fan Club is a thing. This thing includes tons of cool benefits for Appalachian State football fans that have not yet entered high school. They get to come to Fan Fest early. They get a t-shirt. They get free admission to a home game (save it for Louisiana-Monroe, kids). They can go to any other App State home sporting event. You get a facility tour, the right to become a ball kid, and a birthday card. Somewhere I am sure there is a secret decoder ring.

Fan Fest starts at 5 PM, and the team comes out at 5:30 PM. In the past the Mountaineers would hold a scrimmage during Fan Fest, but this year they will not. Presumably they will be practicing too hard to face Michigan again.

This season holds a fair amount of promise as Appalachian State becomes a full member of the Sun Belt Conference. Every game will bring something new and different and no one really knows what to expect. The Mountaineers could face constant slaughter, or they could put the rest of the Sun Belt on notice.
