Former Davidson Wildcats star Stephen Curry will try to make another run at an NBA title, this time with Kevin Durant as his wing man.

Life just changed for former Davidson Wildcats legend Stephen Curry. Not long after losing the NBA Finals, Curry is now welcoming Kevin Durant into the fold. That is some kind of pick me up. That should make it easier to get over a loss that Curry largely took the blame for.

Now Kevin Durant is in. How will teams defend the Warriors now? Before they could try to lay off against Harrison Barnes or Andrew Bogut. You can’t ignore Durant in the same way. This presence should help Curry get more open looks.

The next issue to look at is how Curry and Durant will coexist on the court. Are there enough basketballs to keep Curry, Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green happy?

That issue is partially solved by pointing that Curry is the point guard. Curry will decide if Durant sees the ball or not, not that different from the situation with Oklahoma City and Russell Westbrook.

The true issue might be sorting out what happens between Durant and Thompson. Curry has shown the ability to coexist with an additional big time shooter and Green. The thing now is that Durant becomes that second scorer. What will happen to Thompson as the third option? Can the Warriors hold the team together if Thompson’s role declines but he still is making big money?

One thing is for sure, it is going to be a lot of fun to find out. Already the NBA is throwing its collective back out trying to fathom how a team that won 73 regular season games just got the third best player to come on board. Not since LeBron James went to South Beach has there been this much anticipation.

For now Curry gets to go into training camp as the reigning two time MVP with the previous league MVP as his new teammate with both in their prime years.
