East Carolina Pirates at UConn Huskies Preview

facebooktwitterreddit

Are the East Carolina Pirates up for some Friday Night Football? I hope so because they have the University of Connecticut on the schedule and they have to go up there to play them.

The Pirates will be looking to find that winning feeling again after taking Temple to near the limit in their last outing. It’s all about bowl positioning now for the Pirates, and the more wins the better for them.

The Pirates have proved to be a diverse team who can do more than just throw. Now they go to see if they teach the Huskies some new tricks in their backyard.

Opponent: UConn Huskies (3-5, 1-3 AAC)
Date: October 30
Time: 7:00 PM
TV: ESPNU

X – Which UConn Shows Up?

The Huskies have played some interesting games this season. They win close and they lose long. They blew out UCF (who hasn’t this year?) and could have upset Missouri if they had not faked the field goal in a 9-6 game to go for the win. The Huskies have been perfectly beatable until they aren’t.

Y – Air Time Again

Quick scoring offenses have given the Huskies trouble. They fell to BYU and Cincinnati by two scores or more and those teams run similar schemes. I am not saying you’ll see more Blake Kemp, but you should see more passing by the Pirates. Then Chris Hairston can come and throw things off balance.

Z – Don’t Help Them

About the only way that UConn wins this game is from turnovers. So the idea is simple, don’t turn the ball over. Runners protect the ball. Don’t throw risky passes that might lead to interceptions. Kick makeable field goals when you get the chance. Halloween is not for another day so there should be no ghosts out tonight.

Prediction: 31-13 East Carolina
