Earlier this week, the Carolina Panthers shockingly decided to cut veteran pass rusher Charles Harris. Harris was tied with A’Shawn Robinson as the Panthers’ team leader in sacks (3).

The veteran defensive lineman was a healthy scratch in Week 10 against the New York Giants but played 33 defensive snaps in last week’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, Harris didn’t have to wait long for his next opportunity.  On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles signed the former Panthers pass rusher off waivers. Harris will try to give the Eagles’ pass rush an extra boost for the last month of the regular season.

Harris was asked about being released from Carolina and what’s different about being with the Eagles.

“The morale, across the board,” he said (h/t Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia). “That’s not me talking bad on any other team or program or organization. But when you get somewhere where winning is a part of the culture, it rubs off on you and you’re ready to win too.”

The veteran defender tried not to throw the Panthers under the bus, but he wasn’t wrong with what he was saying. Any time you go from a bad team to a team competing for a playoff spot or Super Bowl title, your mindset and mentality must change.

Carolina has played much better lately, but they are still trying to create and install their new culture under first-year coach Dave Canales. Meanwhile, the Eagles have already established a new culture and expectation that every player, coach, etc. must follow to reach the ultimate goal.

Panthers fans will watch from afar to see what Harris does with the Eagles. Carolina hasn’t been shy about shaking up the roster throughout the season. Thus far, it hasn’t come back to haunt them, and they hope that trend doesn’t change.
