UNC Star Named ACC Player of the Week
By Jovan Alford
After defeating No. 7 Duke Blue Devils by nine points on Saturday, the No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels had one of their own recognized by the ACC on Monday.
The ACC announced that graduate forward Harrison Ingram was named Co-Player of the Week alongside North Carolina State graduate guard DJ Horne. Ingram played outstanding basketball in the Tar Heelsβ win over the Blue Devils.
The 6-foot-7 forward dropped 21 points (season-high), 13 rebounds, and four steals. Duke had no answers for Ingram, who shot 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range. The Blue Devils were worried about Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis, that they couldn't keep Ingram in check.
For the week, the Dallas, Texas, native averaged 14.5 points and 13 rebounds per game in two games against Duke and Georgia Tech.
Ingram didnβt score much (eight points) in the Tar Heelsβ one-point loss to the Yellow Jackets, but he ripped down 13 boards. The 6-foot-7 forward has recorded double-digit rebounds in five-straight games and four double-doubles over that span.
Head coach Hubert Davis will be looking for another strong performance from Ingram as UNC will welcome Clemson to the Dean E. Smith Center on Tuesday night. After that game, they will travel to Miami to play the Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon.
