5. Terrace Marshall Jr., WR

Marshall Jr. has been a player who fans have been excited about for years, but his potential has never translated to a good season.

He’s not as needed as he once was, with Adam Thielien, Johnson and Legette ahead of him, along with Jonathan Mingo finding some success last year as a rookie.

While Carolina doesn’t necessarily need him long term, it would be nice to keep him around. Thielien (soon to be 34-years-old) is creeping up on retirement and Johnson is set to be a likely pricey unrestricted free agent next summer.

Marshall Jr. could be a cheaper alternative. He flashed some potential in 2022 with 28 receptions for 490 yards and a touchdown, but he will need to do more – albeit in a limited role – to garner an extension, as he’s also due to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

If Marshall Jr. can become a red-zone threat, or the big-play receiver he was in 2022, he could earn himself a contract and help the Panthers from overspending at wide receiver.
