The University of North Carolina Tar Heels will begin the 2023-24 season as one of the favorites to win the national championship. Their in-state rival Duke is getting all of the national attention with their top recruiting class but with the combination of experience and high-end talent, North Carolina will almost certainly be a force to be reckoned with next season.

With the current NCAA rules, it can be difficult to keep track of teams' rosters. The transfer portal and the additional year of eligibility because of COVID have made rosters very fluid over the last couple of years. So, this feels like a good time to take stock of what the depth chart for the Tar Heels looks like for next season.

It's important to keep in mind that there are currently 10 players on scholarships right now. There will be more transfers in the upcoming weeks to fill out the rest of the rotation.

Guards

RJ Davis, Elliott Cadeau, Seth Trimble

North Carolina will have one of the best backcourts in the country. RJ Davis will be among the favorites to be the preseason player of the year and will almost certainly be a candidate to be the best player in the country.

While Davis is carrying the offensive load, he will likely be paired next to Elliott Cadeau, who will take on the tough defensive assignments. A backcourt duo of 6'0 and 6'1 is not ideal but Cadeau plays bigger than his size.

Seth Trimble decided to return to Chapel Hill after initially deciding to enter the transfer portal. He will have a much larger role next season and has to continue his shooting improvement to warrant even more playing time.
